LARRY NEWCOMER, Elder    CONTACT LARRY
Larry Newcomer’s life and ministry is driven by a passion for the supremacy and centrality of the crucified and risen God-Man, Jesus Christ. His appetite to study and understand the Scriptures began as a senior in high school. Later he recognized that his keen interest in the Bible included the twin gift of pastor-teacher. After graduating from Tarleton State University (BA 1972) he served for 18 months as an associate pastor in Houston. In 1974 he founded Mills Road Baptist Church. Shepherding the flock of God to stand as a pillar and buttress of the truth by teaching the authoritative word of God is evidence of God's continued call on his life. Larry and his wife Karen have three faithful children, Lucas, Kyle, and Kara.

BLAKE WHITE, Elder    CONTACT BLAKE
Blake is married to Alicia and has one son, Josiah. He grew up in Eula, Texas (25 minutes from Abilene). Although he attended church occasionally, it wasn't until college that he sensed a calling on his life. He soon decided he would be unhappy doing anything but the ministry of the Word. In May 2010, he received the Master of Divinity from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved his family to Houston to be missionaries there. After a summer internship, he joined the staff at Mills Road in September 2010. He has published two books, The Newness of the New Covenant and The Law of Christ: A Theological Proposal. His aim in life is to love God and love people and help others do the same. In his free time, he enjoys good food, good company, and good books. He blogs on occasion here.

GLEN HEWTON, Elder    CONTACT GLEN
Glen was drawn to the Lord in 1976 at the age of 19 in Mt. Healthy, Ohio. He served as a medic in the U.S Army from 1976-1979. He moved to Houston, TX. in 1982 and married Ligh Diaz in 1988. The Hewtons have two children, Hannah (1989) and Nathan (1995), both following the Lord. Glen and Ligh are both registered nurses. Glen has been a member of Mills Road Baptist Church since 1984, serving in a number of capacities, including as Deacon, for many years.
